LA County Arboretum & Botanic Garden

Seems like these days everyone is out hiking and outdoors taking fantastic pictures. Usually you have to drive a couple hours to get to a great hiking location and you end up having to tread up a mountain. Once you get to the top, your heart hurts and you are sweating bullets. It is fun and you take amazing pictures. Luckily if you are looking to get your heart pumping and also take some amazing pictures without a long drive, there is the Los Angeles Arboretum and Botanic Garden. There is a fee to enter the Arboretum but it is $9 for adults and $4 for children and there is free parking. The great thing about the Arboretum is that you walk for hours and see so much.
It is located in the city of Arcadia, east of Pasadena and it is next to Santa Anita Park. It is located in a very urban area but once inside the Arboretum you no longer feel as if you are in the city. The Arboretum is 127 acres of plants, natural landscapes, wildlife, historical buildings, sitting areas, and plenty of peacocks.
You can pack a lunch and have a nice picnic or you can have lunch at Peacock Cafe, located inside the Arboretum. Another perk of the Arboretum is that if you like a plant you see there, you are able to purchase some plants in the gift shop. I assure you that at the end of the day you fill grow very fond of the peacocks, thankfully they sell peacocks feathers and peacock themed items in the gift shop.
The Arboretum does close at 5 p.m., so you should plan to be there for 2 hours or more. Wear a pair of comfortable shoes, charge your cameras, wear layers, apply sunscreen, wear a hat and take plenty of water.
To plan your visit go to their website http://www.arboretum.org/

Dana Point

This year there has been an increase in whale and shark sightings. There are many whale watching cruises all over California. I went to the Dana Wharf Sporting and Whale Watching. You can purchase tickets online on their website or you can go in person to The Dana Wharf Sporting and Whale and purchasing tickets. If you do not see any whales during your trip, you will receive a complimentary ticket for a future visit. You will see dolphins which are always fun to see. Make sure to take a good camera because you will take some pretty spectacular pictures. Food is sold on board the cruise. You can purchase alcoholic beverages and nonalcoholic beverages. I do recommend eating in a restaurant, not because the food on the cruise is bad but because there are many place to eat at. There is a variety of restaurants, from Mexican food to Italian, there is plenty to eat. Make sure you wear a hat, sunglasses, sunscreen, and layers of clothing because it can be very windy. There is plenty to s...

Tickets do book fast so do not be discouraged, it may take up to a month or two for you to be able to visit the museum. If you do not want to wait too long you can go the day you plan to visit, there is an onsite standby line. Keep in mind admission into the museum from the standby line is first come, first serve. The wait time can be anywhere from 30 minutes to 3 hours, depending on how busy the museum is. The onsite standby line closes 90 minutes before the museum does, s...

Las Vegas for Otakus and Geeks

Las Vegas is notorious for being the place to party. The motto is "what happens in Vegas stays in Vegas." Partying endlessly may sound appealing to some, others may be left thinking "where is the anime?!" Thankfully there is much else to see in LasVegas, especially if you are a fan of anime or superheroes. You can visit the Chinatown Mall. There is a wide variety of stores. There are many bakeries, cafes with boba, bookstores, markets, and plenty of eateries. There is a store called Great Wall Bookstore that has a great variety of products. There are boxes full of stickers, a table with a wide variety of journals, anime merchandise, Studio Ghibli merchandise, novelty items, purses, and a variety of Chinese books. This is a great location to find affordable anime items and stationary. Now if you are a fan of comic books, there is a really good comic book store in Las Vegas. It is called Alternate Reality Comics, located in Pioneer Plaza. There is a good variety of...
