Big Bear

In California, we have been seeing some big storms this month. It has been years since we have seen storms like the ones we have been experiencing. It is the perfect time to go out and take advantage of the snow. Head out to Big Bear.
You can go for a day or book a hotel or cabin for the weekend. There is much to see and whatever you don't get to see, can be saved for another day. You will have to check the Big Bear website for condition updates. On the website you will see if you need tire chains or not.
If you don't have snow wear then you can just dress in layers and pack a change of clothes including socks. Shoes are important since the snow will more than likely get inside your shoe and freeze your feet. You can get away with wearing rain boots just make sure to wear a pair of fluffy socks. You will not be able to resist the urge to have a snowball fight so pack some gloves otherwise your snowball fight will be cut short and your fingers will be in pain.
Once you are done with your snowball fights, you can go off and explore Big Bear. You can head straight for Big Bear Lake or to the different resorts. You can also go to Alpine Slide at Magic Mountain. There is something for everyone. There are concerts at The Cave, snowboarding, hiking, fishing, snowshoeing, airplane tours, horseback riding, jetskiing, kayaking, segway tours, and much more. If the great outdoors is just not for you, then there are many restaurants and stores. There is a wide array of lakefront restaurants, a personal favorite is the Himalayan Restaurant which has cuisine from Nepal and India, there are many delicious plates to choose from such as my addiction, Lamb Masala. There are also indoor arcades, laser tag, and spas. For those looking for something more exciting during the night time, there is a nightclub located on Pine Knot, there is a DJ, dancing, and plenty of cocktails. If you are looking for something more educating, then there is Big Bear Alpine Zoo and the Big Bear Historical Museum.
The only problems I experience while at Big Bear, is parking. I suggest you plan to arrive before 10 am so that parking is not that difficult to find. There are plenty of places to park, they just are filled up quickly. Other than parking make sure you have some good footwear and some gloves.

Las Vegas for Otakus and Geeks

Las Vegas is notorious for being the place to party. The motto is "what happens in Vegas stays in Vegas." Partying endlessly may sound appealing to some, others may be left thinking "where is the anime?!" Thankfully there is much else to see in LasVegas, especially if you are a fan of anime or superheroes. You can visit the Chinatown Mall. There is a wide variety of stores. There are many bakeries, cafes with boba, bookstores, markets, and plenty of eateries. There is a store called Great Wall Bookstore that has a great variety of products. There are boxes full of stickers, a table with a wide variety of journals, anime merchandise, Studio Ghibli merchandise, novelty items, purses, and a variety of Chinese books. This is a great location to find affordable anime items and stationary. Now if you are a fan of comic books, there is a really good comic book store in Las Vegas. It is called Alternate Reality Comics, located in Pioneer Plaza. There is a good variety of...

LA County Arboretum & Botanic Garden

Seems like these days everyone is out hiking and outdoors taking fantastic pictures. Usually you have to drive a couple hours to get to a great hiking location and you end up having to tread up a mountain. Once you get to the top, your heart hurts and you are sweating bullets. It is fun and you take amazing pictures. Luckily if you are looking to get your heart pumping and also take some amazing pictures without a long drive, there is the Los Angeles Arboretum and Botanic Garden. There is a fee to enter the Arboretum but it is $9 for adults and $4 for children and there is free parking. The great thing about the Arboretum is that you walk for hours and see so much. It is located in the city of Arcadia, east of Pasadena and it is next to Santa Anita Park. It is located in a very urban area but once inside the Arboretum you no longer feel as if you are in the city. The Arboretum is 127 acres of plants, natural landscapes, wildlife, historical buildings, sitting areas, and plenty o...
